A gasket is a material made of paper, rubber sheet or copper sheet that is placed between two planes to strengthen the seal, and a sealing element is provided between the static sealing surfaces to prevent fluid leakage. The materials of gaskets are: first, non-metallic gaskets, composed of asbestos, rubber, synthetic resin, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc. The second is semi-metallic gaskets, gaskets made of metallic and non-metallic materials. The third is metal gaskets, gaskets made of metals such as steel, aluminum, copper, nickel or Monel alloy.
First, the installation requirements of the gasket
1. The sealing surface of the sealinggasket and flange should be cleaned, and there should be no scratches, spots and other defects that affect the sealing performance of the connection.
2. The outer diameter of the sealing gasket should be smaller than the outer surface of the flange, the inner diameter of the sealing gasketshould be slightly larger than the inner diameter of the pipeline, and the difference between the two inner diameters is generally 2 times the thickness of the sealing gasket to ensure that after pressing, the inner edge of the sealing gasket does not extend into the container or pipeline, so as not to hinder the flow of fluid in the container or pipeline.
3. The preload of the sealing gasket should not exceed the design regulations, so as to avoid excessive compression of the sealing gasket and loss of rebound ability.
4. When the sealing gasket is pressed, it is best to use a torque wrench. For large bolts and high-strength bolts, it is best to use a hydraulic tensioner. The tightening torque should be calculated according to the given sealing gasket compression, and the size of the hydraulic tensioner oil pressure should also be determined by calculation.
5. When installing the sealing gasket, the nuts should be tightened sequentially in order. However, it should not be twisted once to reach the design value. Generally, it should be cycled at least 2~3 times so that the stress distribution of the sealing gasket is uniform.
6. For pressure vessels and pipelines with flammable and explosive media, safety tools should be used when replacing sealing gaskets, so as to avoid sparks caused by the tool colliding with flanges or bolts, resulting in fire or explosion accidents.
7. If there is a leakage in the pipeline, the sealing gasket must be replaced or adjusted after the pressure reduction treatment, and it is strictly forbidden to operate with pressure.
Second, high temperature resistant gasket material
1. Rock wool board: thermal conductivity 0.041-0.045 fireproof, flame retardant, large temperature absorption, poor heat preservation effect.
2. Glass wool: simple construction, cut at will. Antibacterial and anti-mildew, anti-aging, anti-corrosion, to ensure a healthy environment. Low hygroscopicity and stable physical properties.
3. Expanded polyphenylene board (EPS board): thermal conductivity: 0.037-0.041 good insulation effect, cheap price, poor strength and pin.
4. Extruded polystyrene board (XPS board): thermal conductivity: 0.028-0.03 better thermal insulation effect, high strength, moisture resistance, expensive price, surface treatment during construction.
5. Rubber powder polyphenylene granule insulation slurry: thermal conductivity: 0.057-0.06 good flame retardancy, can be recycled waste, the insulation effect is not ideal, and the construction requirements are high.
